Hit some more sidewalk strips and got lucky again. After a couple of wheats, I hit the merc. Just a few feet later I got a 08-47 on the E-Trac. I thought it was going to be a quarter. I flipped it out of the ground, and saw it was a silver half. I thought for sure it was a Kennedy, or a Franklin, or maybe a Walker. Nope, BARBER!!!!
I found the ring a little later. What a great day!!

Anyone know what the Elgin item is?

Another sidewalk strip Merc!
Hunted a private yard today with mediocre results. I did find one wheat, but mostly clad. I moved over to the sidewalk strips, I don't know what they're called... you know the strip between the sidewalk and the street? Yeah, that's the one I hunted. I found another wheat and the Merc. I am loving this machine.

Third hunt with E-trac first Merc!!!
Lovin' it!
I can't believe I'm finally finding old silver coins. It is why I started detecting in the first place.

Four new Records!!!! One Hunt!!!!
I broke four records today, and tied a fifth!
First I broke my nickel record that I set yesterday. Yesterday from the cold wet ground I dug 15 nickels, a new record after two years of beeping. Today, I broke it with a total of 19 nickels. I broke my penny record, previously 85, today 103. I tied my previous dime record of 28. I broke my number of coins record previously 139, today 177. I also broke my total clad count record, previously $9.77 today $12.28! It was a great morning in the wood chips!

09-25-2010 California Trip.
I went to a park in California last Friday. It is a good looking park with some old trees. I noticed that someone had recently moved two picnic tables. That is where I started hunting. My first find was a nickel. My second was a 1 gram Engelhard gold bar!! I could not believe it! About three targets later I pulled the 14k 7 Diamond gold ring!! A pretty good day. I noticed I had a flat tire, and had to call it quits. I only hunted about an hour, what a day!
